Brief description:
The University of Amsterdam (UvA) aims to attract the world’s brightest students to its international classrooms. Outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA can apply for an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (AMS).
Who is eligible?
Students who hold a non-EU/EEA passport and have applied for a degree programme at the University of Amsterdam may submit an application for an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship. 
How to apply?
Applications should be submitted to the Admissions Offices of the Graduate Schools. Deadlines for the AMS differ per Faculty or Graduate School. You can find the specific eligibility requirements, selection criteria and application instructions on the Faculty or Graduate School websites.

Holland Scholarship 
The Amsterdam Merit Scholarship can sometimes be supplemented with the Holland Scholarship (HS), of which the UvA is a participating member. This scholarship is collectively offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and participating Dutch universities.
Please note: at the Faculty of Humanities, the Holland Scholarships is awarded independently of the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship and only available to Bachelor’s students

Application steps
1. Choose a programme
Use the links below to choose a programme and view the application information for that programme.
2. Check the entry requirements
Check the specific entry requirements and deadlines for the programme of your choice.
3. Submit enrolment application in Studielink
All students who would like to apply to a programme at the University of Amsterdam will need to start their application process in Studielink, which is the central application organisation for Dutch universities.
4. Complete your application
After registering in Studielink, you will receive emails with your UvA student number and instructions for the next step of the application process.
5. Pay the tuition fee (after admission)
After you have been admitted to a degree programme, you will be asked to pay your tuition fees. In order to be enrolled for your programme you must meet the requirements for each step in the application process. 
European language programmes
The UvA offers a number of Master’s programmes taught in a language other than Dutch and English. These European language programmes can be found in the list of  English-taught Master’s programmes.

  1. How is it Fully Funded when in step 5 of the application procedure one has to pay the tuition fee?
